Day 1
25.08.24
Day 1 will include a Mehendi/Haldi ceremony during the day, and a Sangeet in the evening. We will be updating this page with specific details nearer to the time, so make sure to check back!
Mehendi & Haldi ceremony
The Haldi ceremony is a pre-wedding tradition that dates back hundreds of years. Haldi is a paste of turmeric, gram flour and fragrant oils that are applied to the bride and groom’s skin to symbolise cleansing, purity and auspiciousness (p.s. everyone will leave this ceremony with some haldi and thus a radiant glow on for the upcoming celebrations). Traditional yellow clothing is worn to match the yellow of the turmeric.
There is opportunity for everyone to have traditional henna designs applied to their hands. Formed as a paste made from the henna plant, Mehendi was historically applied to the hands and feet of the bride and her loved ones. The intricate patterns symbolise beauty, joy and prosperity.

Sangeet
The Sangeet is the main pre-wedding event that encompasses song, dance, colour, food and games! The word Sangeet literally translates to “sung together,” and is traditionally a Punjabi and North Indian ceremony. We will be inviting family and close friends to take part in a fusion of festive dancing and cultural arts, incorporating both traditional and modern Indian customs. Be prepared to show off your talents to a welcoming crowd and get ready for a night to remember!
